And the Show Goes on…

Dress Rehearsal by Sandy Young

SYX Gallery | Sandy Young Exhibits…

“And the Show Goes on…” an exhibition of show-themed art by Sandy Young.

Juxtaposing old with new, Young combines early dance, circus and show posters with imagery of contemporary dancers and scenes, expressing continuity through time, or an interpretation of the theme “and the show goes on”.

Show posters from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s serve as inspiration for many of Young’s mixed-media dimensional art pieces.  Other pieces weave dancers in and out of the various planes, or in other ways feature show and performer subject matter, and yet all pieces exhibit Young’s signature layering of glass and imagery.  Sandy Young combines formed glass with various materials, including wire, image transfer and paint on wood panel, often creating a three-dimensional effect.

And the Show Goes on… runs from January 16 through February 14, 2016. Reception: Sunday, January 17 from 4:00-6:00 pm.

SYX Gallery is the new exhibition space featuring Sandy Young’s art in downtown Sonoma. Set in an historical 1910 building one block from the Sonoma Plaza, this new gallery offers collectors and visitors an opportunity to view Sandy Young’s art on a regular basis. For Young, it is an opportunity to develop site-specific art for future shows, as well.
